'The Truant' Classic Yacht Charter
For a memorable trip to Scotland's West Coast and to experience Some of the most beautiful cruising ground in the world why not charter a 100 year old crewed classic sailing yacht.
This boat is very beautiful and one of the only of her type left in the world. Built in 1910 in Scotland by undoubtedly the most famous yacht designer to have lived "William Fife III", TRUANT is an 8 meter gaff race yacht.
Winning over 200 races in her time, Truant was one of the most successful boats in her class, including winning the 1912 European championships against an Olympic fleet.
She now has a more relaxed life and has recently been restored back to her former glory.
Charters can be tailor made to suit your preferences with personalised itineraries, lobsters lunches on board or at a deserted beach or a stop at a local pub. Day trips/ half day trips leave and return from Crinan or we can sail further afield with planned overnighting at other hotels. The boat is limited to a maximum of 4 guests.
The Truant owner Ross Ryan is an accomplished artist, find out more about his work here: www.ross-ryan.com
This year The Truant attended the 4th Fife Regatta with many of her sister ships from around the world. The Fife Regatta is held on the Clyde every 5 years, where these beautiful old ladies can race and cruise as they would have done 100 years ago.
The weather was mixed, as to be expected from Scotland, offering often very blustery contidions of up to 30 knots, with many of the boats reaching their all time speed records, The Truant included at 13.5 knots!
After 8 days of racing we came 2nd in class with both boat and crew tested to their limits.
